MAKE HUGE RETURNS FROM OIL PALM PLANTATION INVESTMENT IN NIGERIA.

The Oil Palm tree is one of the greatest economic assets a state or nation has, provided its importance is realized and potentials fully harnessed. Oil Palm products include Palm Oil, Palm Kernel Oil and Palm Kernel Cake. These can further be processed into RBD OLEIN (Cooking Oil), Vegetable Ghee, Shortenings, Margarine, CBS. CBE, Ice Cream, Dough, Creaming, Coating, and other specialty fats. Some other by-products of the Oil Palm include Palm wine, fatty alcohols as well as intermediates.

Nature so made it that all aspects of the Oil palm tree is useful and economically viable.” Oils" is a collective term for more or less viscous, generally organic-chemical liquids. Depending on their chemical composition, a distinction may be drawn between fatty, essential, mineral and silicone oils. Fatty oils include liquid, semisolid and solid products of vegetable and animal origin. They are also known as sweet oils. Palm kernel oil is a white to yellowish oil of vegetable origin which is solid at normal temperatures and is obtained from the kernels of the oil palm (Elaeis guineensis). It is one of the best oils.

Palm kernel oil is different from palm oil, which is obtained from the flesh of the fruit. Three {3} products namely palm kernel oil, palm kernel cake and palm kernel shell {crushed} which is used as a biofuel can be gotten from palm kernel nuts. Palm kernel oil is processed to yield edible fats, soaps and candles and is used in the confectionery, pharmaceutical and perfume industries.

Palm Kernel Oil Specifications:
FFA (%) Max: 2.5
Moisture & Impurities (%) Max: 0.3
IV: 16-19Colour (5 1/4" Lovibond)
R: 3.4-4.5
Colour (5 1/4" Lovibond)
Y: 30-32

Vegetable oil is a product derived from oil bearing seeds and has both domestic and industrial uses. Domestically, it is used in homes and fast food centers as cooking oil while industrially, they are used in the production of soap, butter and margarine. The cake gotten as a bye-product is used in formulating livestock feeds especially for cattle, sheep and poultry.

THE MARKET:

The market for edible oil is national. With a population of over 140 million people and an estimated national population growth rate of 5.7% per annum ,an average economic growth rate of 3.5% per annum in the past five {5} years, Nigeria has a large market for edible oil. The demand is high but local supply low hence the need for importation in the past.

In 2005, in order to stimulate local production and attain self sufficiency in vegetable oil production, the government introduced the presidential initiative on the development if vegetable oil over a period not exceeding three {3} years. Under these initiative, attention was focused on the promotion of eleven scheduled oil seed crops which are oil plam, groundnut, soya beans, cotton etc and production target was set for each of the crops under the programme as follow

1. Oil Palm: 1 million hectares capacity of producing 15 million fresh fruit bunches
2. Groundnut: 15 million tones annually
3. Soya beans: 670,000 1 million tones per annum
4. Seed Cotton: 1 million tones over the plan period

After three {3} years of starting the initiative, the domestic edible oil demand for exceeds the national production. The short fall in supply being estimated at about 50,000 tones per year. From the above figures, it is clear that there is a large and sustainable market for vegetable oil in Nigeria.

Large expanse is land is also available for the cultivation of oil palm seedlings for interested investor and we can help secure already producing plantation for willing investors.

The rising cost of oil and other traditional source of energy coupled with the need to reduce the effects of global warming are intensifying the search for alternative clean fuel sources across the world.

Biofuels are a wide range of fuels which are in some way derived from biomass. The term covers solid biomass, liquid fuels and various biogases.Biofuels are gaining increased public and scientific attention, driven by factors such as oil price spikes and the need for increased energy security.

Crop that can be processed into biofuel is referred to as energy crops and they include cassava, jatropha, algae, cotton seed, sesame seed, oil palm seed ETC.

For a nation that wants to develop, it most focuses on area where it has comparative advantage and surely Nigeria does has a comparative advantage in the agricultural sector especially in the production of biofuel.

From available findings, Nigeria’s record in this emerging is challenging from the figures given below

Australia 20 Million Gallons
China 530 Million Gallons
Brazil 4.35 Billion Gallons
USA 4.3 Billion Gallons
E U 250 Million Gallons
India 80 Million Gallons
Nigeria Zero Million Gallons

In order to reverse these trend, the government has made available improved oil plam seedling for interested investor and would make available land expanse of land.

MAKE HUGE PROFIT FROM BIOFUEL INVESTMENT IN NIGERIA ;OVER 3 MILLION HECTARES OF LAND AVAILABLE FOR JATROPHA CULTIVATION.

The slave trade era might have come and gone but one important lesson that it taught us was that at that time to be famous and rich one has to operate large hectares of land for agricultural production. The agricultural era saw the production of agricultural commodities like sugar cane, wheat, corn etc for human and industrial use.

Then came the industrial era which witnessed the establishment of so many industries to process products gotten from the agricultural and other sectors into finished goods. This era saw the emergence of John D. Rockefeller – Jnr. an American industrialist, as the world’s richest man. Next was the computer age or what is popularly referred to as the dot com era. This era created more millions that the two previously mentioned eras and saw the emergence of Bill Gate of Microsoft as the world’s richest man.

The world is presently in a transition state back to the agricultural era where farmer’s and agricultural produce processors would once more occupy there place of pride. This shift is being driven by the food and energy needs of the world population. Effect of global climate change {global warming} is already been felt with the catastrophic destruction of farms by floods, washing away of top layer soil and desertification. This has greatly affected the world’s food supply.

The rising cost of oil and other traditional source of energy coupled with the need to reduce the effects of global warming are intensifying the search for alternative clean fuel sources across the world.

Biofuels are a wide range of fuels which are in some way derived from biomass. The term covers solid biomass, liquid fuels and various biogases.[1] Biofuels are gaining increased public and scientific attention, driven by factors such as oil price spikes and the need for increased energy security.

Crop that can be processed into biofuel is referred to as energy crops and they include cassava, jatropha, algae, cotton seed, sesame seed, ETC.

For a nation that wants to develop, it most focuses on area where it has comparative advantage and surely Nigeria does has a comparative advantage in the agricultural sector especially in the production of biofuel.

Australia 20 Million Gallons
China 530 Million Gallons
Brazil 4.35 Billion Gallons
USA 4.3 Billion Gallons
E U 250 Million Gallons
India 80 Million Gallons
Nigeria Zero Million Gallons

In order to reverse these trend, the government has made available about 3 million hectares of degraded land for the cultivation of Jatropha. Improved cassava seedling for improved yields is now available from research institutes in the country.

With a population of over 140 million people and an estimated national population growth rate of 5.7% per annum ,an average economic growth rate of 3.5% per annum in the past five {5} years, Nigeria has a large market for biofuel. Also the investor can also take advantage of the trade liberalization in the West African {ECOWAS} market to sale there product.

The allocation of 3 million hectares of land for the cultivation of Jatropha, provision of improved cassava seedlings and the willingness of government to derive the maximum gain from biofuel makes Nigeria a preferred destination for biofuel investment in Africa.

HOW TO MAKE PROFIT PROCESSING TOMATO IN NIGERIA

Tomato is regarded as a fruit in some quarters and as vegetable in others but which ever way you look at it, tomato is a highly nutritious food ingredient used in the preparation of many food. Tomato is virtually used by every tribe in Nigeria.

In time part in Nigeria, tomatoes grown in the south west had great dominance over all other varieties in the market but as the economy of the country expanded and the market for the globe looking type of tomato grown in the northern part of the country becoming too small as a result of low consumption rate, the variety stated gaining dominance in the southern market. Over time, this variety has dominated the market in Nigeria.

MARKET FOR PROCESSED TOMATO:

For a nation that wants to develop, it most focuses on area where it has comparative advantage and surely Nigeria does has a comparative advantage in the agricultural sector especially in tomatoes production and processing.

Nigeria produces about MT of tomato per year but over 50% of these value is lost majorly through poor storage system and bad road network thereby leading to lack of availability of the product during certain period of the year and also making it expensive.

The above loophole makes tomato processing a viable business in Nigeria. The demand for tomato and its bye-product far outweighs the supply.

With a population of over 140 million people and an estimated national population growth rate of 5.7% per annum ,an average economic growth rate of 3.5% per annum in the past five {5} years, Nigeria has a large market for processed tomato product . Also the investor can also take advantage of the trade liberalization in the West African {ECOWAS} market to sale there product.

In Europe and America, tomatoes are either presented fresh in supermarkets or packed in tins for consumers. The packaged tomatoes are used in the export market and Nigeria is one of the countries involved in its importation which also speaks of our consumption rate.

However, since tin tomatoes do not come in large packs, it cannot meet the needs of large size market consumers like those used for weddings, restaurants, parties, hotel and this market is very huge in Nigeria.

PLANT CAPACITY:

Tomatoes milling plant could be operated on a small, medium or large scale depending on the availability of the raw material and the investor’s financial capability.

RAW MATERIAL:

The major raw material needed in tomatoes and it can be sourced mainly from the northern part of the country in the following states Sokoto, Gombe, Yobe, Kano, Kaduna ,Benue e.t.c.

For large scale production, it is advisable that the investor has a farm attached to the business plan.

HOW TO MAKE HUGE PROFIT PROCESSING PADDY RICE IN NIGERIA

Rice is the seed of a monocot plant Oryza sativa. As a cereal grain, it is the most important staple food for a large part of the world's human population, especially in East, South, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, Africa and the West Indies. It is the grain with the second highest worldwide production, after maize ("corn").

Since a large portion of maize crops are grown for purposes other than human consumption, rice is probably the most important grain with regards to human nutrition and caloric intake, providing more than one fifth of the calories consumed worldwide by the human species.
A traditional food plant in Africa, rice has the potential to improve nutrition, boost food security, foster rural development and support sustainable land care.

Rice is normally grown as an annual plant, although in tropical areas it can survive as a perennial crop and can produce aratoon crop for up to 30 years. The rice plant can grow to 1–1.8 m tall, occasionally more depending on the variety and soil fertility. The grass has long, slender leaves 50–100 cm long and 2–2.5 cm broad. The small wind-pollinated flowers are produced in a branched arching to pendulous inflorescence 30–50 cm long.

The edible seed is a grain (caryopsis) 5–12 mm long and 2–3 mm thick.Rice cultivation is well-suited to countries and regions with low labour costs and high rainfall, as it is very labour-intensive to cultivate and requires plenty of water for cultivation. Rice can be grown practically anywhere, even on a steep hill or mountain. Although its parent species are native to South Asia and certain parts of Africa, centuries of trade and exportation have made it commonplace in many cultures worldwide.

The traditional method for cultivating rice is flooding the fields while, or after, setting the young seedlings. This simple method requires sound planning and servicing of the water damming and channeling, but reduces the growth of less robust weed and pest plants that have no submerged growth state, and deters vermin. While with rice growing and cultivation the flooding is not mandatory, all other methods of irrigation require higher effort in weed and pest control during growth periods and a different approach for fertilizing the soil.

ABAKILIKI RICE:

Abakaliki is the capital city of the present-day Ebonyi State in south-eastern Nigeria. The inhabitants are primarily members of the Igbo nation. It used to be the headquarters of the old Abakaliki zone in the Old Anambra and Enugu state before the creation of Ebonyi State in 1996. Abakaliki is made up of three Clans namely Ezza Ezekuna, Izzi and Ikwo. It has estimated population of 141,438 according to the 2006 census. Nigerians from other communities also reside mainly within the state capital city.

Abakaliki lies at the intersection of the Enugu, Afikpo and Ogoja Roads. Abakaliki was formerly known for its Guinea worm pandemic. However, years of sustained provision of a portable water programme for the public have eradicated Guinea worm cases from the state. Abakaliki hosts many quarry factories, rice mills, large markets, golf course, and luxurious hotels. Ebonyi State University main 'KAS' campus is located in the city with other temporary campuses in nearby Presco and Ishekie. Plans for a new build central campus on the outskirts of the city are currently underway. Several new private factories, especially food processing industries, have taken advantage of the State government's tax holiday and other incentives to establish in the state capital.

Abakaliki is also the food basket of southern Nigeria. The city has been a leading producer of processed rice, yam, and cassava for decades. Newer technology recently introduced has enabled the modernisation of the city's rice mill complex for improved quality of rice processing.

Consequently, research has shown that Abakiliki soil produces one of the best local rice in Nigeria. The rice is very rich in protein, vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates etc. A new day has come for rice producers in Abakiliki mostly now that Abakiliki Rice Farmers Association, Abakiliki Rice Mill Owners Association, Ebonyi state government and some international agencies like USAID,UNIDO & CANDEL etc are partnering to improve on rice production in the state.

OFADA RICE:

Ofada is a small town in Obafemi Owode LGA of Ogun state. The town was known for its Agricultural potentials mostly in the cultivation of rice on its vast arable land. Ofada Rice is a generic name used to describe all rice species produced and processed in the rice producing cluster of south-western Nigeria. Alot of potentials exist in its cultivation, processing and Export of Ofada Rice. The UK Department for International Development programme has revealed the massive potentials that exist exporting ofada rice to UK and USA. This is so because there are about 340,000 Nigerians living in the UK and a potential demand of over 120 tones of ofada rice annually. The fast food industries in Nigeria are even hungry for ofada rice. The market in the US seems even to have more potentials of growth than the UK market. They can be packaged in 1kg or 2kg bags like the old Uncle Bens rice.

BARO RICE:

Baro is an ancient town in Niger state owned by the Nupe people. Nupe is a very popular ethnic group in the middle belt now north central region of northern Nigeria. They are found in Niger state and parts of kogi state. They are known for their Agricultural Might in the cultivation of Rice, Yam, Cassava and Animal Husbandry etc. They has a very fertile clay-loamy soil and huge hectares of uncultivated Agricultural lands for rice cultivation.

MAKURDI RICE:

Makurdi is a Local Government Area in Benue state and also the state capital of the state. Benue state has been known as “the food basket of the nation”. They are known for Yam, Cassava, Maize and Rice cultivation etc. They have been proved to have a very fertile soil and a vast land for Agriculture with lots of state government incentives to encourage investors.

THE MARKET:

Based on the analysis so far made, you can agree with me that a lot of potential exist in Nigeria’s Rice cultivation and processing Industry. With a population of over 140 million people and an estimated national population growth rate of 5.7% per annum ,an average economic growth rate of 3.5% per annum in the past five {5} years, Nigeria has a large market for rice .There is a huge business opportunity in the industry mostly now that the Federal Government is poised towards increasing Nigeria’s Rice production as producers will be able to produce for both local consumption and export. Thus, our company can assist interested individuals and/or groups both home and abroad in getting lands, professional guideline and other incentives that will enable them to set up a fully mechanized rice farm and processing factory that has the capacity to produce large metric tones of processed rice.

The project can be operated on a small, medium or large scale depending on the financial capacity of the investor.

For a large scale investment, it is advisable to incorporate a farm into the project so as to make available paddy rice.

HOW TO MAKE HUGE PROFIT PROCESSING OIL BEARING PLANTS

2. Groudnut: 15 million tones annually
3. Soya beans: 670,000 1 million tones per annum
4. Seed Cotton: 1 million tones over the plan period

After three {3} years of starting the initiative, the domestic edible oil demand for exceeds the national production. The short fall in supply being estimated at about 30,000 tones per year. From the above figures, it is clear that there is a large and sustainable market for vegetable oil in Nigeria.

Raw Materials:

The main raw materials needed for the production of edible oil is 100% obtainable in Nigeria. Vegetable oil can be produced from oil bearing seeds like groundnut seed, sessame seed, cotton seed and Soya beans. The plant should be as close as possible to the source of raw material.

Plant and Machinery:

The plant we are looking at is that which can be used for small/medium production of vegetable oil, that is, about 1000 litres of oil in a day and depending on the type of product and raw material used for production, some of the equipment needed are filter press, weighing scale, groundnut decorticator etc.

The machine can be sourced from abroad or fabricated locally and the efficiency of the plant can be about 30%, that is, 30 tones of raw material would give 10,000 liters of vegetable oil and 20 tones of cake.

The manpower required to run the mill is about 2-3 persons.

Manufacturing Process:

The raw material to be used for production determines the production process. For example, if groundnut is used, the harvested seed would be feed into the decorticator for dehusking after which it would be taken to expeller and boiler for boiling. Next to the filter press where pure is extracted. For the imported machine, if the production is started with 100 KG of groundnut seed, 28 KG of husk, 30 KG of pure oil and 42 KG is cake would be produced.

Plant Layout:

For the imported plant, installation is very easy, in 5-8 hours, the plant can be installed and can start production .Ready foundation frames would be supplied by the manufacturer and by simply placing the expeller and electronic motor on it and connecting with a V belt, it is set. The mill is a compact unit as there is no intermediate counter shaft. It occupies less space and can be shifted from one place to another.

Project Cost Estimate:

This will depend on the source of machinery and equipment, capacity and the location of the plant. For a 3 tones per day mill of imported source, below is the initial project cost

Pre-Investment = N250, 000
Plant and Machinery = N2, 000,000
Utilities = N2, 000,000
Working Capital = N2, 500,000
Motor Vehicle = N1, 500,000

Total = N8, 250,000

Profitability:

Given that 22,000 liters of oil and 26.4 tones of cake is produced in a month and the price of 20 liters of oil is N4500 while that of the cake is N20, 000/MT, a profit of N1,408,000 is realizable in a month for a plant of 3 tones per day .
