WATER PURIFIERS AND CLEANERS IMPORTATION IN NIGERIA; THE OPPORTUNITIES.

It is generally agreed that water is life because not only does it gives life; it sustains life.

Water is such an essential part of life that humans cannot simply do without it or find an alternative to it. They are used in drinking, bathing, washing, cooking and other important activities and at such issues around the quality and quantity of supply of water should be of great concern to everybody.

In order to achieve her dreams of being amongst the top twenty economies by the year 2020 , the Nigerian government must provide her citizens access to clean and portable water not just for domestic use but also for agricultural purposes because of it’s link to food security.

It is on record that over 60% of the over 140,000,000 people of Nigeria do not have access to clean and portable water. Most of rural Nigeria which constitutes about 70% of the over one hundred and forty million people represents a large part of those without access to clean and portable water. They source their water requirements from open streams and rivers. Part of urban Nigeria is also affected by the lack of access to clean and portable water and most have had to make use of supply from cart pushers.

The water industry in Nigeria will continue to enjoy rapid growth because of not only it’s essential nature but also the fact that the population of the country is growing at 3.5% per annum thereby creating more demand for the product.

Water business started off with borehole water being sold to the public to hawking of ice water on the street, and then it graduated to sachet, bottled and dispensed water.

In order to take care of consumers of borehole water which constitutes the largest segment of the market and to make them feel safe consuming such water, people have resorted to the manufacture, importation and sales of water purifiers in Nigeria.

The return on the importation of water purifiers and cleaners is quite attractive and impressive due to the large and sustainable for the product in Nigeria.

The successful implementation of this project begins with the preparation of detailed and bankable feasibility study report to ascertain the actual cost/benefit status of the project. Company registration with Corporate Affairs Commission, Standard Organization of Nigeria {SON}/National Food, Drug Administration and Control {NAFDAC}.
